"Something got into my hand, and it went bad."
- Ash, Army of Darkness

The Evil Dead

If there is one good takeaway from Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy, it's that you should always have a shotgun and chainsaw handy for any issues with the undead. And if it's a double-barrel and you have a back-mounted sheath for it, all the better.

Caribbean Nightmares

There are some aspects of Caribbean culture that point towards a different type of zombie. In the land of voodun there are a lot of people who believe that there really are zombies. During the filming of "The Serpent and the Rainbow" there was enough weirdness going on to freak out the crew and halt production on the film a few times.

Killing the Zombie

The shotgun is the preferred weapon for killing zombies. Other nice ones include machetes, long-handled axes, and of course, any belt-fed weaponry, though that usually requires the use of a vehicle. In really bad "shit-hits-the-fan" scenarios, it'd be really hard to mount on a horse.

The recent BATF change to re-classify drum-mounted shotguns as destructive devices really put a damper on adding a street sweeper or striker-12 to your list of anti-zombie kit.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a current comic book series about how a group of folks survive after a world-wide outbreak. It's more than a horror comic, it's a great look at how people act in really crappy circumstances. It's a good read. Check it out.
